what a difference a [year] makes...
Last fall, our sweet puppy Mackenzie was starting her not-so-sweet phase. The phase that every puppy has when they are less about being cute and cuddly and more about being curious and playful. Everything I did, she wanted to know what is was and how she could be a part of it... including time on my laptop.
One afternoon I was getting lunch ready and had set my laptop down on the coffee table. Mac was plopped on the front rug happily tearing one of her toys to bits. I got up to grab my sandwich, and when I returned Mac was no longer in her spot. She leaned forward on her front paws, butt in the air, tail wagging wildly and stared at me with those playful eyes that bark "I dare you to move!" I realized that lunch would be better at the counter, and just as I got up to turn towards the counter to set my sandwich back down...Mac pounced on the coffee table, knocking over an entire glass of water onto my laptop. I ran over and quickly shut it off, and then tipped it to its side, water gushing out of it, puddling onto the counter. I realized that that may have been the last time my laptop turned on. Poor playful Mac had no idea and she continued prancing and jumping on and off of the couch loving all my quick movements as I rushed to dry and care for my soggy computer....
Long story short: my ibook died.
Nik and I decided at that point to get an iMac to replace my laptop. It could store more (photos and music) files and be a good investment. We decided to wait until we moved to GA to get it...and now, about a year later, we have finally purchased it.
It has been so much fun exploring the updated systems and new tricks that our old laptops aren't capable of, but even more exciting has been taking my external hardrive and pulling up all my photos and music from my old laptop. All the memories from pictures and the fun songs I can again play while I'm doing things in the house... wicked great, and so worth the wait.
and as I type this on our new computer (which is at a safe distance from anything wet) my one and a half year old puppy is laying behind me, snoring away... crazy how things can change in just a year.
