Everybody knows it.

I grew up in a family that enjoyed movies. Though my mom made sure it was in moderation, we loved going to Blockbuster and picking out 3 or 4 to watch over the weekend, or going through our collection on the shelf. We loved the Disney classics, not just the cartoons, but the old school ones like Polyanna or The Family Band. The library was usually a good source for those too.

One thing my family enjoyed was watching the movies together and any part of the movie one of us or all of us thought was hilarious we'd mentally tab it. And quote it later on. Certain quotes were hilited and true favorites and are still quoted today when we all get together.

Sometimes we quote them randomly, when they pop in our heads, but more often something throughout our daily lives triggers the thought and someone'll quote one line and get the rest of us laughing... For example: Young Frankenstein.
We all thought this was hysterical. So now, every time my dad has a good bowl of soup or really any food he really enjoys. He moans like the Monster... "mmmmmmmm."

Sesame Street was also a great source for quotes. My little brother, Harry, when he was 4 or 5 loved this clip:
One morning we found him with his arms stretched out (like a T) doing the tango with the t's. Well it was all over at this point. We all had to join him. It became a family favorite. Later on, when my brother Matty was figuring out how to spell his name, it was brought up again. He had "two tiny t's" in his name... so we incorporated this dance and ended it by changing some of the words... "with Matthew." A big hit.

These are just two randoms of so many more.... (see future blogs, I'm sure, with more clips and quotes)

I love that there are endless movies with funny parts that have become even more so because my family together, randomly had a moment and have carried those silly moments through even now as all of us are growing into adults.

Now with my own little family, I am doing the same thing. I know that as Wes grows up he'll be roped into this crazy fun tradition too. It can't be helped. Its just how we watch movies. (one of the many things Nik and I connected on was our appriciation for movies, and lo-and behold, his family does the same thing!! Sure our quotes weren't always the same selected from movies, and some movies passed us by that the Sifers enjoyed. But it has been endless fun to quote and fill each other in... again, Wes doesn't stand a chance.)

Last night, as we were going to bed. Nik said "Everyone knows." to something we were talking about and I replied with "Everybody knows it." and he chimed in with the tune and "don't ask me why I said it. because I already forgot.".... yup, not only are movies and tv shows quoted... so is Homestar Runner.

So of course we had to watch some of our favorites...and there are so many!

Warning you may get trapped in a Homestar vortex. There are so many good ones. Enjoy!
