Meet Carson and Jo
We recently discovered a little store called The Land of Nod. Oh man. This place has it all, and though some items are a tad on the pricey side, its completely worth the extra mo-lah.
For Wes' first Christmas, Mor and Opa Sifers blew our socks off with a Christmas present of TICKETS to spend Christmas in Germany with them. Garmisch is the ultimate Christmas town, like I'm pretty sure elves get their inspiration there. Because its not all glitzy and commericial, its quaint and simple and as we have come to call it, a living snowglobe.
It was wonderful there and I look forward to going back. But all that is to say it was an amazing place to spend Wes' first Christmas. As many of you know, Christmas is a big deal to me. Its my most favorite time of the year. I adore traditions (a big part of the season.) One tradition that we started in Germany with Wes, is getting each of our children a stuffed animal from both Nik and I. We had a blast picking out a fun/unique toy for Wes in the German shops... so when Molly's first Christmas came, and we were no longer in The Snow Globe, we began the hunt for the perfect 2 stuffed animals.
Plush toys are pretty easy to find. But we didn't want her to just get a bear from Target (not that there is anything wrong with that, in fact we love Target. a lot. so much so that sometimes we just go there to say hi. "hi Target." and walk around.) but this needed to be special. This was, afteral the First Christmas Tradition stuffed animals, not just a ho-hum Christmas (ha, like there is such a thing...but you see my point.)
We looked and found... normal.
We looked and found... weird.
but what we were looking for was unique and special.
a catalog came in the mail in November from The Land of Nod. (one of my favorite nursery rhymes/songs was Winkle and Blinken and Nod, so the title immediately struck me as very cool.) I flipped through the magazine and saw that it was a conglomeration of artists from all over the world. This was fun.
Then I opened it to a page of a pile of stuffed animals and was sold. We were totally going to find Molly the perfect presents here! And we did...
We were extremely pleased with our find. Better yet, Molly is too. Sure she was just a couple months then and now is only 4 months, but she loves to cuddle already! Jo is small and the perfect size to grab, Carson is the perfect texture to hold onto and chew... and they both are excellent colors for her to see and smile at. It makes my heart happy. Mission complete.
So moms... parents...aunts or uncles... or kids at heart (because lets me honest, I am slightly jealous of Molly right now) The Land of Nod has some great finds. Furniture, toys, decoration etc... worth checking out. And though some of there stuff can be more expensive, little Jo, was only $10. So definitely affordable items too!
